2026 BSWCD Annual Meeting

Announcement for Benton Soil and Water Conservation District's public meeting on March 16, featuring a keynote on community burn associations.

 ABOUT OUR KEYNOTE:

Hear how neighbors are coming together to improve habitat, create healthy forests, and reduce the risk of wildfires through planned burns. The newly formed Mid Valley Prescribed Burn Association provides networking opportunities, resources, and workshops for those who wish to harness the power of "good fire" to reduce fuels, remove invasive species, and restore landscapes. Learn how carefully-applied fire practices can provide an additional tool for land management, from small plots to large acreages.

Michael Rhoades is the Chair of the Mid-Valley Prescribed Burn Association. During the past ten years, he has promoted the use of good fire as a forest health, fire risk reduction and community building practice. He is trained as an Oregon Certified Burn Manager and a California Burn Boss (trainee). He is a Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist and a Wildland Firefighter.
