Habitat Certification Program
LAUNCHING IN SPRING 2026!
Welcome to Nature Neighbors! This habitat certification program aims to transform and connect private and public landscapes across Benton County into ecologically-resilient, wildlife-supporting spaces.
By empowering residents to plant native species, restore soil and waterways, and remove invasive plants, together we can collectively build healthier habitats and communities.
Certification requirements focus on 5 habitat-fostering actions:

PLANT NATIVES: Native plants provide the vital food and shelter resources that wildlife need to survive and thrive
REMOVE INVASIVES: Many non-native species spread quickly, outcompeting native species and degrading natural resources

PROTECT SOIL: Actions like creating your own compost pile and adding it to your garden help enrich and improve your soil

CONSERVE WATER: Capture and store rainwater to provide a free irrigation source all year round

SUPPORT WILDLIFE: By providing resources such as bird houses and clean water, you can foster a stronger wildlife community
