TWILIGHT TOUR: House Property in Philomath
August 12, 2025
5:30-6:30pm

Join us at our final Twilight Tour of the year to view a Conservation Management Plan in action! In 2024, Seymour House contacted Benton SWCD requesting help in creating an oak habitat conservation plan for the property. Benton SWCD made a site visit and was delighted to see that Seymour and his wife Paula had been doing great work to reduce noxious weeds and other competition on their oak woodland. They have also enhanced wet habitats on the property to provide amazing amphibian and bird habitat. Our staff wrote a plan with Seymour and Paula that enabled them to enroll in the Wildlife Habitat Conservation Management Program with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. By also working with the county assessor, they receive deferred taxes on the property which helps them keep the land in oak and wetland habitat for the future.
This walk may involve uneven ground or plant hazards. Please wear sun protection, long pants, sturdy closed-toed shoes, and bring water.
